Year 1999 A.D.

This Philco-Ford film paints a rosy picture of the millennium. It focuses on a family enjoying all the fruits of advancements in technology. The main benefit is lots of leisure time and the ability with an increase in pay. The home itself is huge and overlooking the sea. Inside it has computer controlled climate and a spiffy automatic food making machine. No more cooking over a hot stove or washing dishes.

There seems to be no information available about this film made by World Research Films. It reflects changes in society between the optimistic sixties and the worried seventies. It is set in the year 2003 where New York City is plagued by power outages resulting from failed energy policies. Hope for the future is the space colony Libra. It orbits the Earth with ten thousand people living on it. It beams collected solar power back to earth using microwaves. The film is anti-government and pro free market. It has a sort of an Ayn Rand vibe. Many futurists were consulted in the production including Gerard O'Neill, Henry Kolm and Brian O'Leary. The cast includes Wayne Grace, Gordon Ross and Jim Hess.
