For the closing of the competition (and not of the festival, which ends the day after), the LUFF is happy to welcome the Swiss premiere of the long awaited comeback of a way too rare director!
Jennifer came into the world with a most uncommon deformity: she has seven clitorises! One can easily imagine the dire consequences of this state of affairs for her hormonal system: a consuming hunger for sex, as well as an uncontrollable post-coitus temper which no man has yet been able to master. Still she knows deep inside that someone, somewhere, is waiting for her, is destined for her.. and that person may well be Batz, a young introvert who, for reasons of a similar kind, also seems to experience some difficulties with the opposite sex.
Seventeen years after the peculiar Basket Case 3, Frank Henenlotter produces another one of his gems and comes back to themes that are dear to him: unconventionality, addiction (to sex, in this case), physical malformation. Bad Biology is a heartfelt tribute to B movies and sexploitation (of which he is a great specialist, as the fans of the Something Weird Video label know well) in the shape of a screwed-up adult comedy. It was also an oppotunity to hook up again with make-up artist Gabe Bartolos, a talented latex fiddler whose work appeared on all of Henenlotter's films since the brilliantly mad Brain Damage in 1987, and who later distinguished himself in Matthew Barney's Cremaster series.
Although immediately recogniseable as one of Henenlotter's films, Bad Biology is also the fruit of the imagination of R.A. Thorburn aka RA the Rugged Man, a hip-hop artist, horror movie fan, and co-writer with Frank Henenlotter of three scripts altogether. Hence the many cameo roles held by Remedy, J-Zone, Jedi Mind Tricks, Killah Priest, Reff The Lost Cauze, Prince Paul, and of course RA himself.
