Editions MEGO present

FENNESZONEOHTRIX POINT NEVERCINDYTALKBRUCE GILBERT - TUJIKO NORIKO

Mego presents four concerts which will take place on Saturday 23rd October at the Casino de Montbenon and on Thursday 21th Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th at Café Théâtre Le Bourg.

This independent label has been with LUFF in one way or another since the first edition of the festival, through its association with names such as Tujiko Noriko (who will play at Le Bourg / co-prod Luff - Cave 12), Florian Hecker, Russell Haswell, Peter Rehberg, Merzbow, Stephen O’Malley, Gert Jan Prins, and Karkowski. Founded by Ramon Bauer, Peter Rehberg and graphic artist Tina Frank in 1995, at a time when Techno music was starting to teeter on the edge of commercialism, Mego soon demonstrated that experimental, non-academic music was not unsustainable and could be promoted with some success. Its releases have ranged from soft J-Pop to digital wall-of-sound Noise music, showing a constant mutation process, a genuine care for visual and sound quality, and a total disregard for fame and financial considerations. No more, no less. LUFF wishes to help spread this philosophy, and this year’s edition will focus on a specific set of themes. We will host performances by Tujiko Noriko and by Fennesz, some of the label’s old-timers; as well as newer recruits such as Oneohtrix Point Never; and finally we have programmed two more live gigs as a tribute to two highly influential figures in the history of English radical music whose works have recently been re-released by the label, Bruce Gilbert and Cindytalk.
