  • The Bunny Game

    Adam Rehmeier - 2010 - United States - English with French subs - 76' - HD

Bunny is a homeless prostitute and a cocaine addict. She wanders the streets of Los Angeles in search of customers for often brutal tricks that take place in seedy hotel rooms. One day her path crosses that of Hogg, a truck driver. Even though her days were already a waking nightmare, this encounter will make her sink straight to hell.

The Bunny Game is an experimental horror film for mature viewers only, an unsettling experience of astonishing cruelty delivered through restless filmmaking; it thrust the spectator in the heart of its main character's miserable life for 76 minutes of cinematographic apnea. Bunny is portrayed by the singer and activist Rodleen Getsic, a hothead artist who fully embodied a radical character that would scare any professional actress. This essential immersion has allowed her to deal with the - real - violence she had to suffer for the sake of the film. But make no mistake, The Bunny Game is no average torture porn. It is the result of hard work and several years of exchange between the director and the actress. It is primarily a film about personal responsibility. Getsic is very clear on this point: if Bunny has a shitty life, she is largely responsible for it, and the more irresponsible she becomes, the more things worsen. Harsh words from the survivor of a violent kidnapping that has found, with this film, a way to digest the trauma of a difficult personal experience. The Bunny Game isn't just watched. The Bunny Game is experienced.

Adam Rehmeier began to shoot Super8 shorts at the age of 15 before going to a film school in Chicago. After having done about a hundred of shorts and three feature films and having graduated, he worked on numerous documentaries and followed the band Phish, filming their many performances.
