Trois courts de Jack Smith

Overstimulated

Overstimulated

Restored in 1995, this movie former to Flaming Creatures explores an aesthetic that would be reused in the next movies. In the seventies, Smith will consider this film as a fragment connected to some others of his projects like No President.

No President

Jack Smith - 1967 - US - English, no subtitles - 45' - 16mm
With Irving Rosenthal, Doris Desmond, Mario Montez, Donna Kerness, Allegra,

Among the three versions of this movie, this one restored by the film maker Jerry Tartaglia presents, in alternation, scenes from Smith’s Loft located in Green Street together with images filmed during the presidential campaign of the candidate Wendell Willkie.

I Was a Male Yvonne De Carlo

Jack Smith - 1968 - US - English, no subtitles - 20' - 16mm

Filmed at the end of the sixties and edited 10 years later, this movie has been restored in 1997 by Jerry Tartaglia. It starts by showing extracts from No President, originally named Marsh Gas of Flatulandia. Then, Jack Smith makes an appearance dressed up in a leopard’s suit playing a narcissistic film maker. During a signature session, a fan asks him to sign a picture that is swiftly intercepted by the Superstar Ondine. Seizing a whip, a helping nurse tries to discipline all the admirers thus causing a riot. The film maker’s vain arrogance is illustrated by a mechanical digger collecting the debris of the Broadway Central Hotel.
